I’m Rebecca Orwin (Becky, to everyone except the doctor and one very persistent uncle), and I have always loved stories. As a child I could generally be found with my nose stuck in a book or glued to a TV, and by the time I was a teenager I had branched out into dictating extremely complex Sims 2 dynasties, and also writing fantasy novels. I spent many years writing these stories and sending them off in the hopes of publication, before my sixth manuscript found a very happy and long-awaited home. That novel – The Monsters at the End of the World, a post-apocalyptic adventure story about a kid and her monster – comes out on 8 January 2026, and I could not be more excited. I still spend as much time as I can immersing myself in stories of all kinds, though unfortunately now I’m a grown-up I occasionally have to break off to do something boring, like send emails or put a load of washing on.
