MONSTERS press coverage

It’s been an amazing publication month, marked by lots of love for Monsters in the press – somewhat haphazardly assembled below!

The image on the left is a GORGEOUS 4.5 star review from the brilliant SFX magazine.

Amazingly, Monsters also featured in the Guardian’s Best Children’s Books of January round-up!

A lovely review featured on Ireland Live‘s website.

Monsters featured as a Book of the Week in the Week Junior, as well as getting a review by the wonderful BookTrust – and I wrote an article for BookTrust recommending 8 books with unlikely friendships.

And last, but by no means least, LoveReading4Kids posted an absolutely brilliant review as well.

I’m really grateful, and truly touched (and relieved!) that everyone has been so kind. I think a wise writer would quit while they were ahead and stop reading reviews at this point: stay tuned to find out if I am sufficiently wise… (I’m definitely not.)

Publication Day!

IT’S PUBLICATION DAY!

Because the book has been trickling out into shops and via preorders for a couple of weeks, I didn’t think today would feel too momentous, but I am thrilled to have been wrong! I was awake half of last night just smirking to myself, and have been bouncing around the house all morning, to the baby’s befuddlement.

I wanted to say an enormous THANK YOU to everyone who has bought the book, shared it on socials, sent me pics when they’ve seen it in shops, written me lovely messages after reading it, left gorgeous reviews and been a generally utterly glorious bunch of legends. I have been genuinely moved by all the love and excitement I’ve been shown over the book these last few weeks, so, again, THANK YOU.

Interview in Northumberland Gazette

I’m in the Northumberland Gazette this week! I had a lush time waxing lyrical about the Northumberland coast, my favourite place in the world and the inspiration for the setting in The Monsters at the End of the World (the nice, cosy, beachy bit – not the post-apocalyptic bit) – link here if you fancy a read.

Author Profile in The Bookseller

Look who’s in The Bookseller! I had such a lovely chat with Fiona Noble about The Monsters at the End of the World, and was also featured as an Editor’s Choice in the Children’s Previews for January 2026!

You can read my author profile here, and the full Children’s Previews here.

Proof drops

I’ve had a gorgeous couple of days over the last week visiting bookshops in Manchester and Sheffield to drop off proof copies of The Monsters at the End World! I took no pictures (sigh) but happily my husband came along on the Sheffield round and remembered to snap a few.

All the booksellers I spoke to were so brilliant – booksellers are the best – and I hope I’ll get back to all these shops once the book is actually out…

Book Deal!

The last few months have been a weird roller coaster of going about my normal life, getting halfway through hanging the washing and suddenly remembering that I got a book deal with Puffin? In real life?

It took a long old time and well over a million words written to get here, so I am unfathomably excited.

The Monsters at the End of the World, coming 8th January 2026.
